TO ALL THE UPCSA MINISTERS (RSA)

This is a follow up to the previous correspondence on the same matter. We have just came out of a virtual SACC church leaders’ meeting. The SACC, in collaboration with government and other organisations, is in a campaign to provide relief to those who found themselves out of income, due to COVID-19 disruptions. In that correspondence, the formation of Local Ecumenical Action Networks (LEAN) was emphasised. If you belong to an ecumenical structure in your area that can establish a LEAN and provide this relief, please submit your name and contact number (with WhatsApp) to Rev L Mpetsheni at lmpetsheni@presbyterian.org.za or WhatsApp 0731383791. Your structure (could be a fraternal or any relationship of ministers in the area), which will be LEAN for this purpose, should be able to:
1. Identify people who were robbed of their income because of COVID-19 (e.g. vendors, hawkers, drivers, etc).
2. Link with the suppliers and coordinators at national level.
3. Distribute relief to the people (relief could be in the form of food and/or vouchers).

Please supply this information on Wednesday 8th April 2020 before 12:00, as I will need to forward the same to the SACC head office. This is time for us to show compassion and social gospel imperative to those in need.

Warmest Regards

Lungile Mpetsheni
General Secretary
