MORNING DEVOTION

My cup Overflows
Psalm 23:1 & 5; “ The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want…Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup overflows”
A cup would literally mean a drinking utensil, as translated from the Hebrew language. In the Bible, the word ‘cup’ refers to different things. It may mean God’wrath (Jeremiah 25:15; Ezekiel 23:33). It may also refer to a relationship with a powerful person (Genesis 40:11). And both in the Old and New Testaments, the work ‘cup’ has been used as a symbol of friendship, because of its association with togetherness; when people gather together for a meal around a prepared table, just like in the Lord’s supper.read more

I am the Lord’s Guest of Honor
Psalm 23:5; Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil.
One other thing that we benefit as we dine, in the Lord’s table, is the assurance of mercies.
As Jesus approached Jericho the other day, a blind man who was sitting and begging by the roadside begging, heard that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. He started to call out for Jesus to have mercy on me. And when people rebuked him for his silence, the blind beggar shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”. Upon hearing him, Jesus asked him “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind beggar jumped at the opportunity; “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. Jesus gave him his sight back, and he could immediately see (Luke 18:35-43).read more

Psalm 23:5a; Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil.
Matthew 7: 7 – 11 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”read more
