TO ALL IN THE UPCSA
We have learned of the achievements made by some of our ministers just recently.
1. Rev Dirk Gevers, the General Secretary of the Bible Society of South Africa has been elected as Vice Chairman of the Global Council of the United Bible Society. This happened while he was in China to celebrate the 200 millionth copy of the Scriptures printed in China.
2. The Rev Sauros Phaika, Moderator of the Synod of Zambia, has been elected as the President of the Council of Churches in Zambia. This election followed the resignation of the President of the Council.
3. The Rev Prof Jerry Pillay, the Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Pretoria, is one of the two candidates whose names will be forwarded by the Search Committee to the Central Committee for consideration for the post of the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches. The other name is that of Dr Elizabeth Joy.
