TO ALL IN THE UPCSA
Yesterday, we started the day with a message on “I CAN’T BREATHE”. Thank you very much for your kind affirmation of that message.
Yesterday afternoon, we received correspondence from our partners, Presbyterian Church (USA) on the same issue. We are, hereby, sharing that correspondence with you, to reinforce the awakening to arrest issues of racism, injustices and inequalities. You will notice similarities between their correspondence and our message. The first link on that correspondence is a video recorded message from the Stated Clerk of the PC(USA), Rev. Dr. J Herbert Nelson. The second link is a letter from the Kentucky Council of Churches. For easy access, we downloaded the letter and attached it as a separate document.
We shared our message with the PC (USA) and they appreciated it. They indicated that they will make use of our message, as they deem appropriate. The words of Mr Douglas Tilton:
With your permission, we would love to be able to share the UPCSA’s beautiful and prophetic message with PC(USA) constituencies. Debbie has suggested that we might invite the Presbyterian News Service to publish an article highlighting the UPCSA’s call and our common concerns around humane policing, and then also provide a link to the UPCSA statement in full.
Continue with the fight for peace, justice and equality.
Remain safe and blessed.
Warmest regards,
Rev Dr Lungile Mpetsheni
General Secretary
