TO ALL IN THE UPCSA
“Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.” (Isaiah 1:17 New Living Translation)
The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) promotes the observance of the International Widows Day which is on 23 June every year. The Gender Desk of the UPCSA supports this initiative and implores all in the UPCSA to join in ensuring that rights of widows as human beings are guaranteed and that justice is done for widows. Please receive the brochure which has been prepared by the AACC.
The fight for the rights of widows should not be observed only once in a year. Some widows’ human rights are violated perpetually. The Gender Desk will take this matter up on an ongoing basis. All the congregations are encouraged to incorporate this as a part of their Gender Desks (Women’s Ministry).
