The UPCSA leadership, in collaboration with the Gender Desk and Youth Desk, will hold virtual services that will focus on the promotion of gender justice on the 23rd and 30th August 2020 at 14:00. The overarching theme for the services will be: Rising to life with Jesus: The rolling of the stones from the tombs. The theme has been adapted from the theme of the coming Assembly of the Council for World Mission (CWM). The focus of the service on the 23rd August will be on women who are, by and large, the victims and/or victors of gender based violence and it will be organised and led by women. The service on the 30th August will focus on men who are, by and large, the perpetrators of gender based violence, making a commitment to change the narrative.  This service will be organised and led by men. All are invited to both of the services.

The leadership, working with the Desks are committed to address issues of gender justice, especially gender based violence in the UPCSA and in our societies. The UPCSA must be a reconciled church, welcoming to all, ensuring the equality of its members, and ensuring the reflection of the demographics of its members in the decision making structures. These are some of the strategic goals of the UPCSA.

Let us work together “To be a reconciled community of Christians exercising a prophetic witness to Christ”.

The ZOOM links will be shared in due course.

Warmest regards,

Rev Dr Lungile Mpetsheni
