MORNING DEVOTION

Good Morning Fellow Travelers

Fellow Travelers, on this Thursday’s in Black the 29th of September 2022, we read again from John 4:1-26. Just as the Pharisees had taken a close interest in John the Baptist, they began to watch Jesus. They were threatened by their popularity and felt they were going to loose influence over the people. So knowing their thoughts and to avoid conflict Jesus left and went back to Galilee. He went through Samaria which was between Judea and Galilee, and being there age stopped at the plot of land that Jacob, Abraham’s grandson had given to his son Joseph. Jacob was revered by the people of the land as he had discovered the well. Genesis 33:19:48:22.read more

Good Morning Fellow Travelers

Fellow Travelers, on this Wednesday the 28th September 2022. We read again from John 3:27-36. John admonished his disciples not to complain about Jesus’ success. Those who reported what Jesus was doing wanted him to fight against Jesus. He knew that each man is appointed by God for a specific task. Each man is given different gifts to enable him to fulfill the task. We are challenged never to envy others who have received from God a greater appointment or greater gifts. Envy is the most common and also one of the most harmful sins found amongst Christians. Envy is a great cause of strife and tension amongst Christians.read more

Good Morning Fellow Travelers

Fellow Travelers, on this Tuesday the 27th of September 2022 we read again from John 3:16-26. Yesterday we focused on the conversation between the old Nicodemus and Jesus. From that conversation we see that if our faith does not result in obedience to Christ, it is a false faith. Matthew 7:21; James 2:14-17. Christ is the one who gives us eternal life. This is the life with God. A life of joy, peace and righteousness. This is a life without tears, sorrow or pain. Revelation 21:1-4.read more

Good Morning Fellow Travelers

Fellow Travelers, on this Monday the 26th of September 2022. We read again from John 3:1-15. Today we encounter Jesus in discussion with one of the experts of the law who was a member of the Sanhedrin called Nicodemus. A council is responsible for the execution of Jewish laws in religious matters. Nico came in the night because he was afraid of his colleagues in the Sanhedrin. Today we still have people who are afraid of others. Nico did not allow his position to prevent him from seeking knowledge from someone who was different from him.read more

Good Morning Fellow Travelers

Fellow Travelers on this Saturday the 24th of September 2022 a day in which we celebrate our own heritage. We read again from John 2:12-25. From Cana, Jesus went to Capernaum. Jesus’ mother and brothers were with Him. Each year most devout Jews went to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover festival. Luke 2:41. After His baptism He went to Jerusalem for the Passover with His disciples. When He arrived at the temple, He saw merchants in the temple Courtyard selling animals to be sacrificed. read more

It is three days after Jesus met Nathanael, Jesus and the disciples arrived in Galilee. It is here where they received an invitation to a wedding in a small town called Cana where Nathanael resided. John 21:2. We are told that in the middle of the wedding feast the wine ran out. There was a great embarrassment to the bridegroom, who was responsible for the feast.
